Democrat and Chronicle published a recent article highlighting how Ed Koch is working to fix Albany.
Still, Koch’s welcome New York Uprising campaign needs a huge boost to be successful. Specifically, the reform campaign needs much more money and even more visibility. In a meeting with the Editorial Board last week, Koch said he believed New York Uprising was catching on. Lawmakers statewide are starting to sign on to the Koch campaign’s three tenets: budget and ethics reforms and the independent redrawing of legislative districts lines.
All Republicans in the state Senate have signed on, as well as many in the Assembly. Traditionally, the minority party has always embraced reform.
While most Democrats and Republicans from the Rochester region have enlisted in Koch’s campaign, it is a major concern that less than a third of majority Democratic Assembly members are rallying. Remember, most Democratic Assembly members are from the New York City area, and they seldom stray from the wishes of their powerful leader, Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver.<.blockquote>
“Citizens, New Yorkers must take advantage of this special time in our state’s history and demand Reform. Join us, this is our year.”
