Koch addresses state government reform in Syracuse

Ed Koch travels to Syracuse to advocate for education reform.

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Former New York City Mayor Ed Koch appeared in Syracuse today as part of his New York Uprising Tour. After last year’s Senate coup and this year’s budget crisis, many New Yorkers want reform in Albany, the colorful former mayor among them.

Koch told attendees he wants lawmakers to sign a pledge for meaningful political reform – including independent redistricting, responsible budgeting, and ethics reform.

“What we are doing is, we are singling out, identifying for the local constituency, heroes of reform locally here and in the Senate and the Assembly who have signed the three pledges and we are showing the pictures and the names of those who are enemies of reform who have declined to sign the pledges,” Koch told NewsChannel 9 during a morning interview before the appearance.

“Citizens, New Yorkers must take advantage of this special time in our state’s history and demand Reform. Join us, this is our year.”
